Lose Weight Sensibly or a Speedy Weight Reduction Routine?

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Are you aware of this fact? Results from a survey conducted by Gardenburger Inc. estimated that more than 75% of all ladies between the ages of 25 and 54 resolve to cut back on their calories each year. In this same survey, 90% of those questioned reported they were disappointed with the long-term results, (some respondents actually had put on some pounds instead). You see, reducing a few pounds quickly is relatively easy! Anyone who has reasonable self-control can lose a bit of weight. The problem comes in keeping the pounds from creeping back-on over time.

Diets

Take with a pinch of salt diets that are very much a gimmick or fad and attempt to change our normal eating behavior. Their chances of failure are high. Only consider a practical diet, that reduces the calories but also has a good balance of everything a body needs with your own particular energy requirements. Do this, and you won’t fail in your quest to diet.

Quick Weight Loss

Is it time to consider a diet? If so, the chances are that you are looking for a rapid weight loss. Fast, quick or  rapid weight loss, involves losing weight in a short period of time, generally within the first few days or so. Every year, in the USA, hundreds of thousands of Americans get fired-up about the idea of quick weight loss.

Although unexpected events or appearances do popup, you will usually have a few weeks notice before you will be going to a special event, like a special dinner or dance. As soon as you know about your upcoming event, you need to implement that dieting plan, if you are interested in doing so.
Rapid weight loss can be dangerous; therefore, you shouldn’t rely on it if possible.

Many people living in the Western World suffer from obesity and they would be well advised to give dieting some thought before the advent of  a multitude of problems affecting their health. Weight loss with quick results is  the thing that most people with weight problems would probably be most interested in, but a lot of health care personnel would probably advise caution, when it comes to anything to do with losing weight fast, as it can be hazardous to your health without some proper monitoring.

Plan ahead

If you are seriously considering how to be most effective with your weight loss, you will realize that there is a whole stack of  weight loss programs, all stating that they are better or faster than another diet. Consider how each diet would help improve your health, and the effect on your lifestyle, general routine and your family. Try and get your whole family involved in a healthy lifestyle and diet for them also so that support is radiated to all those in your family who are involved with the diet plan.

Fast Weight Loss

Fast Weight Loss

These days, it seems like everyone for fast weight loss. In today’s fast-paced society, everybody wants everything as soon as possible with as little effort as possible. While there are plenty of ways you can accomplish fast weight loss, most health professionals will agree that these are not the best methods for lowering body weight. Prolonged and sustainable weight loss will almost always take both a lot of time and a lot of effort.

The oldest and most common method people turn for fast weight loss is the starvation diet. There are a number of diets that fall under this category, and they all advertise that you can lose 10 or more pounds in just a few days. While it is true that by virtually starving yourself you can indeed lose weight fast, you are throwing your metabolism into ’starvation mode’. As soon as you resume a regular diet you’ll put the weight right back on again, and may gain even more weight than you started with.

One of the scariest trends in fast weight loss is the increasing use of medication or diet pills. These pills all function with the same basic idea as starvation diets, and use powerful stimulants to suppress your appetite so that you won’t even want to eat anyway. Using powerful stimulants will help you wight fast weight loss, but again will put you into ’starvation mode’ and you’ll regain lost weight faster than you lost it. Using such drugs over a long period of time can be dangerous, increasing your risks of heart disease, and strokes. Don’t be fooled by ads claiming that their product is safe. All appetite suppressants pose certain health risks, and should only be used as a last resort and with the advice of a physician.

If you are really motivated to lose weight fast, consult with a doctor or nutritionist. There are a number of weight loss programs that are effective in helping you lose weight and keep it off. The more effective of these programs will involve some amount of regular exercise, and a diet that does not starve you but rather focuses on frequent, healthy low calorie meals and snacks.

You have to ask yourself, what is more important? Do I want to lose weight fast but then regain it and possibly injure myself in the process, or do I want to spend some time and effort and lose weight permanently? Some of the healthier and more effective programs, if approached with enough motivation and enthusiasm, can actually help you lose weight fast as well.

An over-inflated Belly and Health Issues Considered

Friday, August 29th, 2008

If you rest your tummy on the steering wheel of your car, or you can’t see your toes, or the size of a clothes item you require is never on display, or you hear the odd comment mentioning your weight, or if you can’t get into a single size shower cubicle, then maybe you have a large belly! Well there are 2 choices – you can either take the difficult route, following unsavory dieting procedures and / or starting some training and modifying the types of food you snack on (which incidentally is the best option for your body), or you can find different ways to hide that belly.

The causes of a large belly include anxiety, taking no account of not including deserts, depression, no regular work-out at the gym, selecting high calorie foods e.g. hamburgers which are high in fat and protein, and life-time bad habits like drinking beer with your meal. So you happened to gain a few pounds. As expected, you are probably considering a diet but you need some form of encouragement to help you. In the meantime some way of hiding that fat belly would be in order.

Could it be that age is catching up on your body mass? If the answer is yes, you are probably looking for a quick loss of weight. Fast, quick or rapid weight loss, involves losing weight quickly, generally within the first few days or so. Every year, in the USA, many hundred thousand Americans get motivated by the idea of rapid weight loss.

Often times overweight people have an urge to lose weight before an important event, like an upcoming vacation or a wedding. Although it is reasonable how you can want to lose weight as fast as possible, you need to proceed with caution.

Yes, it is quite possible to lose some amount of weight, rapidly at least initially, but don’t ignore the associated dangers.

Many people living in the Western World are tending to obesity and should seriously consider going on a diet before they suffer major health causes of concern. Fast weight loss is the thing that most of us would probably be most interested in, but most health professionals would advise against it, with regards to “immediate” weight loss, as health problems often follow unless carefully monitored.

It can affect your health if you lose weight too quickly, because of several reasons: The initial pounds that you shed are mainly due to losing stored water and not really due to shedding fat which can have consequential dangers for your health like dehydration; it is all too easy then to turn to carbonated drinks to satisfy your thirst, and usually there is too much sugar in carbonated drinks which can lead to an imbalance of blood sugar which can lead to diabetes, and the carbon dioxide in the fizzy drinks can cause the stomach to bloat and some embarrassing problems of wind.

It is very easy to get very hungry and consequently over-eat and over-drink and as a result putting all the lost weight on again. So fast weight loss is not generally a very good idea.

Are You an Unhappy Atkins Dieter? Do Not be Tempted with Rapid Weight Loss

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Many scientific researchers now believe that Atkins and other diets that encourage the use of low carbohydrates are pretty useless when it comes to keeping weight off long-term. In a survey comparing Lo-Carb, reduced fat diets and reduced calorie diets, all participants began to resume their former weight after 26 weeks, and by 12 Moons there was no statistical difference between the groups. Professor Arne Astrup of RVA University in Copenhagen, Denmark, said that there is no real proof that diets modelled on the Atkins-style are significantly any better than any other diets to help anyone fight the flab, despite the success in some cases of the Atkins diet. Ok… so perhaps this is a bit over the top, but it does illustrate a good point.

Recall the number of times that you’ve heard that to get control of your diet you must be strong. Or to put it another way, to achieve weight loss you must be a slave to severely reduce your favorite foods like cakes, eating at expensive bars, and yes, those fast foods must be avoided. If this silly advice worked in practise, the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics would no longer pick over-eating / obesity as one of the worse factors for our health!!

Initially it is appealing, the thought of trying something different, and starting the next new “rave” diet plan, fits the same mould. But unhappily, the outcome for the majority of these schemes is unsatisfactory. Once the sparkle and initial fun fade away, we’re back to square one.

Attempts to bring changes into overall diet, follow a pattern that goes something like this…

We start a new diet program. It is an exciting prospect, that of losing weight, we are fired up, we have already achieved losing some weight, and the World is a wonderful place.

- Our busy schedule gets even busier. There are demanding kids, demanding bosses becoming more demanding, and naturally there are always those new diet guidelines to learn and follow.

- Before long we find ourselves panicking because we don’t have enough hours in the day, and looking for ways to save time. We decide to postpone implementing one or two of the most time-greedy “special” meals defined as good for our health - “just this once.”

- Our “resources” of health conscious foods begins to dwindle, you don’t have the time to go down to the grocery store to restock, and you make the inevitable run to your local convenience store instead… (oops…… I never realized I had bought so much!) … a familiar story I’m sure.

So, with poor long-term results for diets, you might consider losing weight fast, but what about the dangers of rapid weight loss?

Very much a problem associated with losing weight fast is that many individuals decide not to eat at all, being too focused on losing weight fast. Abstaining from eating, even if it is only over a short period of time, can be dangerous to your health.

It is far better to cut back on the food that you do eat or concentrate on trying to eat healthier foods. By limiting your calories, it is quite possible to achieve a reduced waist size at the very minimum in the time that you were looking to.

It is just very important that you never go a complete day without eating.

Apart from a healthy diet, an additional thing to consider is exercise. Alas, many people do not understand that it will usually take approximately a week to see any appreciable benefits from exercising. With all that in mind, the worse the problem is in terms of your weight, the greater and quicker will be the improvement in your weight.

Although exercise is vital for you to lose weight, you should only proceed with exercise cautiously, especially if you haven’t had a regular exercise plan. Suddenly starting up an ambitious keep fit regime, lasting for hours, as opposed to gentle exercise over say thirty minutes, may help reduce your calorie intake, but, unfortunately, it may result in a hospital visit for you.
