Weight Loss Through Exercise

There are so many people who are overweight these days. If you are one of these and are looking for a quick fix, you will need to reconsider your weight loss plans. It took many years to gain this weight; it will take a long time and some effort to get rid of it.

There are many ways that you can use to get rid of those excess pounds. There are many different kinds of diet pills and diet programs available, but the best way to lose weight is still through exercise.

Exercise is the best weight loss method because it builds your endurance. As this develops, it also increases your metabolism, prompting you to burn more calories than before, thus causing your weight loss to accelerate over time.

Studies show that there are no known side effects when you decide to exercise. The worst that can happen is straining a muscle for failing to stretch, or by not giving the body enough time to recuperate before engaging in another session.

You don’t have to spend money much in order to lose weight. There are many exercises that can be done at home. For example, after stretching, you can go walking or jogging early in the morning, thus burning a few calories. Afterwards, you can do some push ups and sit ups to work on the upper body and the abs.

The other way that will cost a little is by enrolling in a gym. Here, a fitness trainer can help you lose weight by helping you design a personalized program that involves cardio-vascular and aerobic activity.

Warm up will be running for a few miles on the treadmill followed by some weight training using the various machines.

Those who find it difficult to hire a trainer can work out after being taught how to use the equipment. If you enjoy exercising in groups, there will usually be many types of group classes offered, such as aerobics classes, tae bo, Pilates and yoga.

If you are uncomfortable about exercising with other people but would still like to participate in a class, you can get the DVD version instead. There are a lot of these being sold in video stores or online now. These are the next best thing to being there.

One of the most important things to remember while exercising is to drink lots of water. People who fail to do this may suffer from heatstroke or dehydration which is also not good for someone who wants to lose weight.

Before engaging in any exercise, it is advisable to see a doctor. The mind may feel like it can do anything, but the body may say differently. Do things gradually at first and then pick up the pace with other exercises as time progresses.

Engaging in a sport is another form of exercise. Running down the court in a game of basketball or football may not seem like much but it still increases your heart rate and burns those calories.

These examples just show that there are many ways to lose weight. Motivate yourself and get started. Your body will thank you.

Lose Weight Sensibly or a Speedy Weight Reduction Routine?

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Are you aware of this fact? Results from a survey conducted by Gardenburger Inc. estimated that more than 75% of all ladies between the ages of 25 and 54 resolve to cut back on their calories each year. In this same survey, 90% of those questioned reported they were disappointed with the long-term results, (some respondents actually had put on some pounds instead). You see, reducing a few pounds quickly is relatively easy! Anyone who has reasonable self-control can lose a bit of weight. The problem comes in keeping the pounds from creeping back-on over time.

Diets

Take with a pinch of salt diets that are very much a gimmick or fad and attempt to change our normal eating behavior. Their chances of failure are high. Only consider a practical diet, that reduces the calories but also has a good balance of everything a body needs with your own particular energy requirements. Do this, and you won’t fail in your quest to diet.

Quick Weight Loss

Is it time to consider a diet? If so, the chances are that you are looking for a rapid weight loss. Fast, quick or  rapid weight loss, involves losing weight in a short period of time, generally within the first few days or so. Every year, in the USA, hundreds of thousands of Americans get fired-up about the idea of quick weight loss.

Although unexpected events or appearances do popup, you will usually have a few weeks notice before you will be going to a special event, like a special dinner or dance. As soon as you know about your upcoming event, you need to implement that dieting plan, if you are interested in doing so.
Rapid weight loss can be dangerous; therefore, you shouldn’t rely on it if possible.

Many people living in the Western World suffer from obesity and they would be well advised to give dieting some thought before the advent of  a multitude of problems affecting their health. Weight loss with quick results is  the thing that most people with weight problems would probably be most interested in, but a lot of health care personnel would probably advise caution, when it comes to anything to do with losing weight fast, as it can be hazardous to your health without some proper monitoring.

Plan ahead

If you are seriously considering how to be most effective with your weight loss, you will realize that there is a whole stack of  weight loss programs, all stating that they are better or faster than another diet. Consider how each diet would help improve your health, and the effect on your lifestyle, general routine and your family. Try and get your whole family involved in a healthy lifestyle and diet for them also so that support is radiated to all those in your family who are involved with the diet plan.

Weight Loss Success - Uncovering Food Allergies

Weight Loss Success - Uncovering Food Allergies

Having trouble with your weight loss plan? Perhaps you may be allergic to certain foods and not even know it.

In fact, hidden food allergies can be a major reason why you are not as successful as you wish to be with your weight loss program

Was there an instance when you ate something like an ice cream, cake, cheese, or a piece of fruit - and you felt even hungrier? Have you experienced any food urges that you can’t satisfy, no matter how much of that food you consume?

If your answer to the questions above is ‘yes’, then you have food allergies and you’re probably having a hard time with weight loss. Food allergies can make you fat, and that is already a proven fact.

People crave for foods to which they’re allergic. When they are not able to eat these foods, they experience withdrawal symptoms, much like drug addicts. Not to the same level, of course, but there is discomfort that can only be alleviated by eating large quantities of the offending foods.

Many people can attest to the irresistible power of their food allergy. Compulsive eaters are craving and continuously eating foods that they’re addicted to every day. They have no idea that their eating habits and food cravings have something to do with a physiological need.

Specialized doctors who diagnose and treat allergies are now accepting the simultaneous phenomenon of addiction and allergy to both chemicals and food. These doctors are called clinical ecologists, and they believe that almost all persistent health problems like depression, migraine, arthritis, and fatigue are all caused by chemicals and food allergies. A great number of people are affected by food allergies, especially in industrialized countries.

The same kinds of foods can cause dissimilar reactions in different people. The genetic predisposition of each individual is said to be the determining factor if the person is vulnerable to such a condition.

Edema or water retention is a very common condition among individuals with food allergies, and this is one factor that contributes to obesity. If you can identify the food or foods to which you are allergic, and stop eating them, you can lose up to 10 pounds in just a week and without using any diuretic.

You may be able to accomplish some of your weight loss goals without undergoing any diet plan, if you can discover your food allergies and eliminate those foods from your diet. Food sensitivities cause your body to keep hold of fats and water, and if you remove these foods, your body will not hold excess water or fat. You will start to lose weight. You should seek professional help so that you can be provided with a diet that’s low in allergen.

The brain is affected by food sensitivity as well. All your emotions, memory functions, vegetative functions, body temperature, blood pressure, sexuality, sleep, thirst, and hunger can be affected in some manner. There have been conclusive studies showing that the vital functions are greatly affected by your food allergies.

According to a neuropsychological analysis, allergenic foods can trigger the brain to produce biochemicals that are very similar to opiates or narcotics. As you eat more and more allergenic foods, the level of these brain chemicals will increase or rise.

Major food allergens include coffee, wheat, dairy products, corn, and eggs. At one time, medical doctors ignored food allergies because there was no specific drug that could be used to treat such condition. Most of today’s doctors rely on certain supplements and avoidance of such allergenic foods.

So take a good long look at your diet. You may just be allergic to those ‘comfort foods’, those foods that you just love to eat. Concentrate on eliminating these or at least cutting them way down, and you will be well on your way to weight loss.

Weight Loss With Low Carb Diet Plans

Weight Loss With Low Carb Diet Plans

Low carb diet plans are very popular now, because people who are concerned with weight loss have discovered how effective low carb diet plans can be. We all love carbs, and it really is hard to accomplish significant weight loss and keep it off without restricting carbs in the diet. There are many low carb diet plans available, and the only way to decide which one is right for you, is to compare each of them side by side to see which one you can live with. There are various websites that have a ton of information available for dieters, that compare low carb diet plans and specific information on each one.

There are good carbs and bad carbs just like anything else. Bad carbs include white breads, baked goods, cereals, pastas, white potatoes, white rice, certain candies, and most alcoholic beverages. Good carbs are those that are high in fiber and low in carb count, such as, sweet potatoes, brown and wild rice, whole grain breads and pastas, fresh fruits and vegetables, and red or white wine. Each low carb diet plan is somewhat the same, except they are each unique regarding how much of each food you consume and how often you eat. Many low carb diet plans start out with a beginning phase that is more restrictive, especially for the first two weeks, and more foods are slowly added back in as the diet progresses. Each of these low carb diet plans restricts the amount of carbohydrate intake to a degree, some more than others, and fiber offsets the carb count of each food item. The higher the fiber, the lower the carb count.

The Atkins diet, for example, is focused on eating meats, protein, and good fats, and does not include any fruits or vegetables in the beginning, which may not be tolerable for some people. This diet also only allows twenty carbs or less per day, and heavily encourages the use of dietary supplements.

The South Beach Diet is somewhat easier to stick to because it allows a greater variety of foods in the first phase, including vegetables and lean meats, and does not restrict the carb count as much as Atkins.

The Zone is another popular low carb diet plan that incorporates some of the same principles of the Atkins and South Beach Diets, but the emphasis is on keeping the ratio of daily intake at 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat. Meals are divided into ‘blocks’ and basically the same foods are eaten throughout the diet, the only difference being, that more fat is added after goal weight is obtained to keep the dieter from continuing to lose more weight.

Whichever low carb diet plan you chose will be effective, because carbs are what affect the insulin levels in our bodies and cause cravings. Once you have learned to eat in a healthy way, and only eat the good carbs, you will weigh less and be able to keep the weight off. Be sure to consult your physician if you need to lose a considerable amount of weight, so that he or she can recommend the low carb diet plan that is right for you.

Using a low carb diet plan may be just the ticket to accomplishing your weight loss goals.

No Cost Weight Loss

No Cost Weight Loss

The world has never been so overweight. It seems all of a sudden that the everyone has become self-conscious about it. Diet plans and weight loss programs have been around for ages, but in the last few years there has been a massive surge in this industry in most industrial countries. Every week we see some trendy new diet program, and the TV is flooded with infomercials for diet pills and exercise equipment, and exercise DVDs. There is one thing that all of these programs and companies have in common: they don’t want you to know that anyone can lose weight at no cost whatsoever. You don’t have to pay anyone to do this!

Not only is it easy to accomplish weight loss for free, it’s the healthiest way to go as well. Of course that does not mean that it doesn’t take effort. It just means that it doesn’t require any skills or know-how. All you need to lose weight for free is some solid motivation to change your lifestyle and a little free time here and there.

The two biggest components in any weight loss program are diet and exercise. These are both free to do. You can lose weight for free just by eating right and adopting a good workout regimen.

The goal here is not to burn calories or to starve yourself. The goal is to boost your metabolism. The actual amount of calories you burn while working out won’t be much at all, and it isn’t going to help you with weight loss. Likewise, starving yourself may help you with weight loss, but will drastically slow down your metabolism to the point where as soon as you start eating normally again you’ll expand like a balloon. However, both regular exercise and a healthy diet will boost your metabolism and will help you burn calories even when you’re just sitting around.

These kinds of free weight loss techniques are most effective and very healthy. It is always better to rely on diet and exercise to boost your metabolism rather than drugs. Sure, there are drugs that can effectively boost your metabolism without effort, but none of them are good for you. And besides, weight loss drugs are all expensive. You can lose weight for free without them, and be better off for it.

Anyone can lose weight for free, and I highly recommend trying if you are on a budget. However, that being said, if weight loss is especially important for you, and if you’ve been struggle for ages to lose weight, it’s never a poor investment to join a weight loss program. If nothing else, a weight loss program is a good way to meet others like you who can be supportive and help keep you motivated. Weight loss is about motivation more than anything else.

Fast Weight Loss

Fast Weight Loss

These days, it seems like everyone for fast weight loss. In today’s fast-paced society, everybody wants everything as soon as possible with as little effort as possible. While there are plenty of ways you can accomplish fast weight loss, most health professionals will agree that these are not the best methods for lowering body weight. Prolonged and sustainable weight loss will almost always take both a lot of time and a lot of effort.

The oldest and most common method people turn for fast weight loss is the starvation diet. There are a number of diets that fall under this category, and they all advertise that you can lose 10 or more pounds in just a few days. While it is true that by virtually starving yourself you can indeed lose weight fast, you are throwing your metabolism into ’starvation mode’. As soon as you resume a regular diet you’ll put the weight right back on again, and may gain even more weight than you started with.

One of the scariest trends in fast weight loss is the increasing use of medication or diet pills. These pills all function with the same basic idea as starvation diets, and use powerful stimulants to suppress your appetite so that you won’t even want to eat anyway. Using powerful stimulants will help you wight fast weight loss, but again will put you into ’starvation mode’ and you’ll regain lost weight faster than you lost it. Using such drugs over a long period of time can be dangerous, increasing your risks of heart disease, and strokes. Don’t be fooled by ads claiming that their product is safe. All appetite suppressants pose certain health risks, and should only be used as a last resort and with the advice of a physician.

If you are really motivated to lose weight fast, consult with a doctor or nutritionist. There are a number of weight loss programs that are effective in helping you lose weight and keep it off. The more effective of these programs will involve some amount of regular exercise, and a diet that does not starve you but rather focuses on frequent, healthy low calorie meals and snacks.

You have to ask yourself, what is more important? Do I want to lose weight fast but then regain it and possibly injure myself in the process, or do I want to spend some time and effort and lose weight permanently? Some of the healthier and more effective programs, if approached with enough motivation and enthusiasm, can actually help you lose weight fast as well.

Weight Loss and You

Weight Loss and You

It’s not always immediately obvious how to succeed in any weight loss program. We all know that diet and exercise are the way to go. That is more or less true, but it is often more complicated than that. Depending on who you are, all the dieting and exercise in the world may not have very good results for you if you aren’t listening to your body. Some people can maintain a slim weight with just a little dieting and exercise (don’t you just hate these people??). Others can work at it for months with little progress. Some, like me, can work at it just as hard and actually gain weight!

The trick in weight loss is pretty much learning about yourself. Your body is unique and will react to different strategies in a unique way; hence the wide variety of results in weight loss regimens from person to person.

One thing I’ve learned in my weight loss research is that it’s all about metabolism. Virtually every technique that will have favorable results for you, is something that will boost your metabolism. Cutting out calories may help you with your weight loss in the short term, but this strategy won’t help you keep it off in the long run. Starvation diets are therefore generally not recommended unless you are looking for only a temporary weight loss.

If you are trying to figure out how to lose weight once and for all, stick to things that sound like they are going to boost your metabolism rather than starve yourself. It’s not about low calorie foods and lack of eating, its about eating the right foods and balancing it with a more active lifestyle.

The desire to lose weight is a pretty common one today, and has created a large market for less than effective products, shams, and scams. Always be a little wary when looking for new weight loss products, and be very wary of people who claim to be able to teach you how to lose weight quickly. Stick to reputable sources, and do some research before you buy or sign up for anything. Check out the science behind the weight loss claims.

With our ever-increasing understanding of science and the human body, the weight loss quest in is likely to continue yielding a lot of breakthroughs and new ideas in the future. After all is said and done, however, the best person to help you figure out your most effective weight loss program is yourself. Doctors and nutritionists may be useful guides, but only you can understand your own body better than anyone else.

Weight Loss With The 3-Day Diet

Weight Loss With The 3-Day Diet

It seems that everyone is trying strange fads or ingesting crazy concoctions these days to induce weight loss or improve their health. They want to get a slim quick fix, or an easy elixir of youth, or something else equally absurd, instead of putting in the time and effort required to improve their health.

The latest fad is called the 3 day diet. It claims that, by consuming what it tells you to, you can lose ten pounds in three days. This is absurd, and unhealthy as well. It tells you to eat saltine crackers, toast, eggs, tuna, coffee, tea, apples and cheese. All regular stuff, nothing magical or “high tech” in any of it, and in 3 days, you’re supposed to lose all of that weight. I have trouble believing it.

If it is true, it is probably because of the small amount you eat on the 3 day diet, and it probably is mostly “water weight.” Water weight means that what you lose is mostly water flushing out of your system, and very little body fat is actually reduced. Losing water weight is actually pretty pointless since it just means getting dehydrated. This can be dangerous, and is certainly unhealthy.

The best way to lose weight is the old, traditional way. You exercise regularly, eat lots of green leafy vegetables, fruits in moderation, cut out processed and fatty foods, and don’t snack between meals. Also, very high carbohydrate food is not really good for your diet either as it will fill you up with calories. This is not a 3 day diet, or even a 30 day diet, but nonetheless, within a couple of months, you will be slimmer and healthier, and happier too.

There are diets that are outright dangerous. The Atkins diet, for example, works by throwing your liver into ketosis by eating nothing but lots of protein. This can cause liver damage, and in some cases, death. Nonetheless, it does make you lose weight at a high rate of speed, but once you get off it, you will probably gain the weight right back.

So stay away from fads like the 3 day diet. If you want to succeed with your weight loss program and keep it off, you have to make permanent lifestyle changes. There are no quick fixes.
